Although a nursing home in Urbana clearly failed an inspection report, resulting in the loss of two stars on the five-star federal rating system, it is unclear whether any correctional action has taken place, according to The News-Gazette on November 30.
The Champaign County Nursing Home was found by the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services to have nursing and dietary-related problems disclosed through 11 specific citations. The facility faces investigation by the Department of Public Health and may be penalized with significant fines. Despite the negative 27-page report, it has yet to be seen whether any staff member has been fired or disciplined.
Some of the citations included the failure to follow through with care plans for patients, failure to prevent accident hazards, and one specific instance of neglect in which a wheel-chaired man was found to have soiled himself without any attention given to his situation.
