Two Southern Illnois University students killed in fire

Two students at Southern Illinois University were killed in a fire that broke out at their off-campus apartment building.

The two friends, age 21 and 19, were in their apartment unit when the blaze broke out in the early hours of Sunday. Firefighters responded to the scene, but found the two women in the second floor apartment where they had succumbed to the flames.

The fire broke out in Edwardsville, but it is unknown what caused the fire at this time. Officials have stated that they do not consider the fire to be suspicious.
