Two crashes occur on I-57 near Champaign

Authorities responded to two serious collisions (one fatal) on I-57 between Champaign and Paxton late Wednesday. The first crash occurred after 11:00 p.m. and involved a single fatality. Few details have been released about that collision at this time, but the wreck did force the closure of the right lane of the highway 2.5 miles north of the Rantoul exit.

The second collision involved a semi-truck rollover three miles north of the Market Street exit in Champaign. This accident happened after the first one. Authorities have released few details about the cause of this accident as well.
