Thursday collision in Kankakee County results in one death

On Thursday, May 1 Lori A. Jackson, 52, sustained fatal injuries in a head-on collision in Kankakee County.

The accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Interstate 57 when a vehicle driven by Michelle R. Sokol, 20, crossed the center median and collided with Jackson’s car. All victims involved in the car accident were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Sokol was cited for failure to reduce speed and improper lane usage regarding the accident. Interstate 57 was closed until around 10 p.m. while police and other authorities investigated the crash site.
