Pilot Josh Pavia was charged with violating the Illinois Pesticide Act after spraying pesticide on around 70 teens as they detasseled corn. The teens were sprayed by the overhead plane, which was crop-dusting a nearby field as they worked.
According to Carle’s emergency department director, Allen Rinehart, the teens were decontaminated immediately.
Pavia faces administrative charges and may be fined up to $750. He has no prior violations.
