Last Friday morning, a 45-year-old Danville man passed away after he was struck by a motor vehicle on U.S. 150. The man was hit by the pick-up truck in a driving lane on the highway.
The accident occurred west of Danville on Thursday around 11:30 p.m. at night. The driver of the vehicle that is responsible for the pedestrian-vehicle collision claims that the man darted out in front of his vehicle, and he was unable to stop in time.
A police officer that happened to be at the scene of the accident stated that the driver of the pick-up truck was not speeding. The pedestrian was transported to the Carle Foundation Hospital where he was pronounced dead early Friday morning.
An investigation into the accident is still being conducted by officials, and no charges at this time have been filed against the driver. Our condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends during this tragic time.
