Ford Motor Co. has announced the recall of over a half million vehicles for two different mechanical issues that were found.
The first recall is of nearly 270,000 Ford Escape SUVs that were recalled after it was found that there is an issue with the anti-lock brake system. A leak in the break system could cause the corrosion of the ABC modular connector and result in sparks or a fire.
The recall affects the vehicles made between 2001 and 2002. A defective part must be replaced, but officials are concerned that this part may be back ordered for some time.
The other recalled vehicles are the 2004 and 2005 models of the Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterrey vans because of a mechanical issue with the torque converter. The issue may cause the vehicle to lose power and although they can still be steered, it can increase the chance that a wreck will occur.
