The driver of a Nissan Sentra was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Illinois Route 50 in Kankakee County near East 6500N Road, the Daily Journal reported on January 5.
Crete resident Derek J. Bryant Jr., 18, was airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center with multiple injuries and was pronounced dead a few hours later. Three other 18-year-olds and one 17-year-old were passengers in the vehicle, and all were brought to medical centers for treatment. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.
Traveling down what has long been considered a dangerous stretch of road, Illinois State Police believe that Bryant lost control of his vehicle. Upon doing so, his car veered off the road and struck a tree.
In this section of Route 50 between 6000N and 12000N Road, there were eight fatal crashes from 2006 through 2012.
The legal team at Spiros Law, P.C., wishes for the quick recovery of those injured and extends their deepest condolences to the affected friends and family suffering during this difficult time.
