New legislation has been passed by General Assembly and signed into a new law by the Governor to help improve the care at nursing homes and rid them of abuse and negligence cases.
The new law states that their will be increased background checks of residents who are coming to stay at the homes and new staffing levels have been mandated at the homes as well. These new measures have already been used at many nursing homes in order for the quality of care to increase as quickly as possible.
New workers will be brought in to make sure that residents are receiving face-to-face care. Staff are now suppose to always be watchful for the happiness of the residents in the home as well as their physical care. These new steps are not extremely drastic but officials hope that they will help to reduce injury and illness in residents due to negligence.
