The News Gazette reported that on Friday, May 16 an accident in Urbana killed University of Illinois student, Paul W. Davidson, 30.
Davidson was traveling west on University Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. when a car turned in front of traffic and caused a collision. Davidson, operating a motorcycle at the time of the accident, was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Mary A. Bridges, the driver who caused the accident, was transported to another nearby hospital. Bridges, 64, was discharged from the hospital in stable condition and was later cited for failure to yield.
Reports indicate that Davidson was scheduled to graduate from the University of Illinois the following day with an architecture degree.
