A five-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 claimed the lives of two people. State Troopers who reported to the scene said the crash at Milepost 151 in McLean County occurred just before 4 p.m. and shut down the highway for almost eight hours while first responders were on the scene tending to victims and investigating the crash. When first responders arrived at the scene of the collision they pronounced one person dead at the scene and airlifted a second to the hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries. Three additional people were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The crash and deaths remain under investigation by McLean County Coroner KathleenYoder’s office and the Illinois State Police.
