COVID-19 Outbreaks in Long-Term Care Facilities

Update: As of August 6th, it has been reported that Ford County saw 13 new COVID-19 cases. Of those 13, eight are linked to the Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells long-care facility. Accolade Healthcare of Paxton houses 106 beds in their facility. All of the residents who tested positive were asymptomatic according to Jason Young, the administrator at Accolade.

As COVID-19 continues to spread in Illinois, some long-term care facilities have joined the list of centers of outbreaks. According to reports the week of July 27th, Champaign County has 209 active cases. Part of these cases are from local care facilities that have now been added to a watch list. According to Illinois Department of Public Health’s most recent update, there are a total of 7 facilities, located in Champaign and Ford counties that are considered to have current COVID-19 outbreaks. To be considered an outbreak by IDPH, a facility needs to have had two or more cases within 28 days.

The Champaign County facilities include Country Health and Rehab in Gifford, with four cases, the Champaign-Urbana Nursing and Rehab in Savoy with four cases, the Reflections Memory Care center in Savoy with 30 cases and four deaths, and the Villas of Holly Brook in Savoy with two cases.

The Ford County care facilities include the Accolade Healthcare center with five cases, the Accolade Healthcare of Paxton Senior Living center with two cases, and the Gibson Area Hospital Annex with four cases.
