Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup reported that last weekend, 7-year-old Joshua Schneider of Mattoon died after being struck by a car on Thursday, April 23. According to reports, Schneider was attempting to cross the street near Lawson Park in Mattoon when he was struck by a southbound passenger vehicle. He was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana where he passed away on Saturday morning.
